Welcome
to the temporary website of Andrea Tinnes. Andrea is a Berlin-based typographer, type designer, and educator, recognized for her design approach that combines visual research, language, and experimental printing, including the ‘Library of Shapes, Texts and Structures’, an ever-expanding personal design library.
Since 2007, Andrea has taught as a professor of Type and Typography at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. In her teaching, she takes a mediating position between teaching and learning, addressing both socio-political and cultural issues and encouraging students to use typography and type as effective, critical, and even poetic tools.
In recent years, Andrea has worked on several typeface projects, including Allgemein Grotesk, Inventar Collection, LOS, and Retroskop. She continually updates and adds new features to these typefaces, leading to a permanent beta state.
