Haircrimes

design info
Haircrimes is a series of modular typefaces that explore the ornamental potential of the alphabet.
Haircrimes also pays homage to the decorative language of historical monograms as well as to the beautiful calligraphy of Georg Bocskay.
Since I didn’t want Haircrimes to be a purely nostalgic interpretation of historical typefaces I introduced the principle of systematic repetition of modular elements to achieve a contemporary look.
The name Haircrimes is a verbal pun, referring to the thin hairlines the typefaces are made of as well as the criminal aspects of ornamentation [Adolf Loos].
